Inverse thermal insulation system

EXTERNAL THERMAL INSULATION

The inverted roof insulation is recommended for surfaces with leaks. In this specific insulation, waterproofing is applied first, followed by the construction of thermal insulation.

In the case of inverted insulation, there is a limitation regarding the choice of thermal insulation material, because the presence of the insulation above the waterproofing leaves it exposed to rainwater. For this reason, a material that is maximally resistant to moisture must be selected, such as extruded polystyrene.

1. Cleaning of the entire surface, smoothing it, and removal of various loose mortars.
2. Thermal insulation boards made of graphite-expanded polystyrene (Neopor) or other thermal insulation materials are installed and adhered with facade adhesive
3. Special plugs are installed, depending on the material from which the wall is constructed.
4. Corner beads and drip edges are installed with the initial plaster material to form the framework within which the special coating will be applied
5. Next, the first layer of the coating is applied, covering the thermal insulation boards with a notched trowel. The fiberglass mesh is placed and fully covered with the coating.
6. After at least 24 hours, we sand the surface to create perfect adhesion on the wall surface to receive the acrylic plaster.
7. We apply a layer of high-strength primer and finish with a coat of acrylic plaster over the entire surface, with a thickness of 1.5 to 3 mm.

Advantages of inverted thermal insulation:

It contributes to energy savings of up to 60%. The construction cost is recovered within five years.

The external walls of the building are aesthetically upgraded.

We achieve the elimination of thermal bridges.

It has excellent resistance to impact, abrasion, thermal cycling, standing water, etc. The performance of the material is not affected by moisture and temperature, and when combined with spray-applied polyurethane insulating foam, it can provide a top-tier thermal and moisture insulation system.

We achieve the external waterproofing of the walls towards their interior section.

The primer and preparation depend on the substrate.

Materials:

Paintchlore 2K from Krypton Chemical, Sikalastic®-701 from Sika.
