Lightweight mortar system

EXTERNAL THERMAL INSULATION

In an era of increasing energy awareness and the search for sustainable solutions for the residential and commercial sectors, insulation through the external lightweight mortar system emerges as an innovative choice. This system, combining lightness with high efficiency, offers an effective solution for the energy insulation of buildings. The application of lightweight mortar ensures improved thermal insulation and soundproofing while simultaneously reducing the weight that burdens the structure of the building.

Lightweight mortar is particularly useful in the construction of insulating layers on walls, ceilings, and floors. On walls, it can be applied as external insulation or integrated into the wall structure during construction.

1. Cleaning of the entire surface, smoothing it, and removal of various loose mortars.
2. Coating with bituminous emulsion over the entire length and width of the surface to create a vapor barrier.
3. Installation of graphite-expanded polystyrene thermal insulation boards."
4. Construction of lightweight mortar, with an average thickness of 10 centimeters and a slope towards the drainage systems of at least 1.5%. This way, we achieve water drainage and partial thermal insulation.

Advantages of lightweight mortar:

Classical conventional roof insulation offers 100% protection against moisture arising from external climatic conditions.

It offers savings of up to 60% in energy consumption.

It has a very low weight (approximately 35 kg/m²), making it suitable for situations where the use of heavier materials is not possible due to the structural inadequacy of the building.

It offers 100% protection from heat, cold, and moisture.

It has absolute adhesion to all structural materials.

After thermal insulation, waterproofing can be performed either with polyurea, Sikalastic 612, or bitumen sheet.

Materials:

Lightweight mortar: from Lafarge

Thermal insulation boards: from Fibran or Dow
